Moments before the band appears, a hush settles over the crowd. Cameras start to come out. Soon, the hush rises to a roar as the crowd hears those first few familiar notes. As soon as 30 Seconds to Mars emerges, you know they’re someone special. Throughout all this time, their constant worldwide family, the Echelon, have been with them. Being an Echelon means more than just being a fan or a follower of the band’s activities. Being an Echelon is being part of a family that each person and each band member aknowledges as their own. Many Echelon choose to receive everything from simply elegant to elaborate tattoos related to the band. Many vote and directly support the band in music nominations. Others promote Mars in their local areas, drumming up interest. Though not always gathered in one place, the Echelon are connected by a unique bond. The music is a lifestyle and an amazing inspiration, and the Echelon especially understand that. Mars encourages us to chase our dreams, and reign them in once we’ve caught them. In the words of 30 Seconds to Mars: “I will never forget. I will never regret. I will live my life.” And I will never be afraid to walk the path of the dreamer.
